I ditch my Samsung S24 so I could get this $200+ Mobile Phone

Mobile phones are getting smarter, longer lasting with larger battery capacities and cheaper. Yet, the downside is that they are also getting increasingly difficult to yield. Newer phones are getting bigger, fatter and much difficult to just slot into the pockets. This is why, I chose the Motorola Edge 30 Neo as the answer to my next phone.

Comparatively, the S24 comes in slightly smaller in terms of its built. But this comes as a cost to having a smaller screen to navigate around. The Motorola Edge 30 Neo has a larger screen and the overall built looks alittle dated. But if you are like me, who enjoyed the Asus Zenfone 8 type built, this should be a plus point for you.

The edge 30 Neo also seem to have a thinner built when placed side by side with the S24. Edge 30 Neo is also much lighter in weight as compared to the S24. You can feel this when you hold it in your hand. If you are a prolonged phone user, the edge 30 Neo might feel much comfortable on your hands. You can compare the specs here on GSMArena. You can see from the images below as comparison.

Hardware wise, this phone does have a SM6375 Snapdragon processor 695 with 8GB ram which allows the phone to run pretty smoothly. Though it doesn't comes with the latest 8th Gen processor, phone maneuvering and Multi-tasking also doesn't pose much issue to this phone as well. If you want to know, this phone also does come with a 5G processor for super fast data connection.

Screen is bright enough for outdoor usage and majority of the features you would want on a modern day smartphone is there. Battery life is also comparable at 4020mah compared to the 4000 on the S24 and 3500 on the S23. As of 11/06/2024, support for the phone is still applicable and I've updated my new phone software to the latest android 14.

The only downside of the Motorola edge 30 Neo is the support for accessories. Cases for the phone is rare and protectors don't really fit well even if its stated for this specific model.

Despite my best efforts, you can see that the protector doesn't stick well. When the compressed ends of the case push onto the corner of the phone, the protector kinda pops up alittle.

That being said, this phone checks majority of my criteria for a small and portable fit phone while still packed with powerful features at a price point so comfortable for my pockets. As of now, this phone will be my go-to phone for my daily outdoor usage while my S24 will be on standby soon as a home kept spare phone for now.
